The holidays are coming, which means it’s a great season for DIY projects and wrapping presents. That means you will need to get the right tools for your crafts to make the season bright. Here are a few ways you can use your Tube-Wringer to deck the halls and put the finishing touches on your holiday gifts.
Crimping with a TubeWringer
The two best Tube-Wringers for crimping are the medium and heavy-duty models, as the metal rollers make a more substantial impression on paper, ribbon, and light-weight metals than the nylon rollers of the light-duty. So, the following crimping and crafting tips are provided with those models in mind:
1. Ribbon Crimping
We love to add texture and dimension to our holiday ribbon by running it back and forth through a Tube-Wringer. This gives the ribbon a different look – and is even more eye-catching when done with a metallic ribbon.
Crimping ribbon adds a fun element to your gift wrapping even if you plan to curl the ribbon with scissors as well. The crimp will remain on any straight piece – or you can crimp the curl itself to give it some added texture.
2. Paper Crimping
Make your own paper bows, holiday cards, paper displays, ornaments, and more with crimped paper. There are tons of ideas for paper crimping crafts on Pinterest, but here’s one we thought was fun and simple.
Creating Layered Shapes
You will need:
- Cardstock or construction paper in colors or patterns you enjoy
- Scissors
- Glue
- Ribbon or twine
Create layered shapes by:
Line up two pieces of differently colored/patterned paper back-to-back. Cut the paper into a shape you like a tree, star, or candy cane.
Crimp the bottom shape.
Line up papers again and cut the top shape so that it is about a centimeter smaller than the bottom, crimped shape.
Glue the pieces together.
Cut about 4″ ribbon or twin and glue to the back of your ornament or use these layered shapes to decorate the front of a homemade card.
This is just one of the many paper crafts you can do this season!
3. Light Metal Crimping
Use our heavy-duty Tube-Wringer when crimping metal. Thinner metals are easiest to manipulate, but you can crimp sheet metal, aluminum, copper, silver, or gold up to 30-34 gauge.
If you’re a fan of handmade gifts, the Tube-Wringer is an excellent tool for you. Many jewelers use the Tube-Wringer to create lovely designs in metal, which gives their pieces a handmade or industrial look. You can recreate this look as a DIYer!
4. Squeezing Tubes
Get the most out of your glue and paint tubes by using a Tube-Wringer! This is a simple way to make sure you are getting the most out of every tube.
5. A Gift In Itself
Even if you aren’t particularly crafty, your friends who love to DIY will enjoy a Tube-Wringer. It has many uses in crafts, home upkeep, and is a particularly useful gift for anyone who values waste-free living.
